In our blog series, "Savannah Heroes Initiative," we aim to shine a spotlight on the Savannah Police Department, honoring officers within the department who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of the community they serve. Look for each month's officer on digital billboards throughout Savannah!
This November, we salute a superhero in a fur coat: K-9 Bolt. Bolt, a remarkable 4.5-year-old Belgian Malinois, isn't just your average canine companion; he's a highly trained and essential member of the Savannah Police Department's team. Read on below to learn more about Savannah's four-legged guardian.
He was born in Europe and procured Shallow Creek Kennels (PA). Bolt was purchased in August 2021 and trained by Cpl. Lindsey
He is trained in narcotic detection, criminal apprehension, tracking, evidence recovery, and building search.
He was certified through NNDDA on October 1, 2021.
Since being certified he has been involved in 165 arrests involving narcotic activity and violent crime. K9 Bolt is credited with the seizure of over 40 pounds of controlled substances, $27,532 drug-related currency, and 63 illegal firearms in his first two years of police service.
When not working, Bolt's favorite pastime is couch time with his family.
